In the evening of Sunday, a woman named Sathee Akter was taken into police custody in the Square Masterbari area of Bhaluka Upazila, Mymensingh district. Akter, who owns a beauty parlor in the locality, was reportedly detained by local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders after she allegedly made critical remarks about the BNP government on social media and in her shop. According to the Bhaluka Model Police Station, the incident began when local BNP activists gathered at Akter’s beauty parlor to question her. Tensions escalated, prompting the activists to call for police intervention. The police arrived promptly and, after a brief interrogation, placed Akter in custody and transported her to the station. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jihadul Islam, who was on duty at the time, said: “The local community detained a woman entrepreneur for making remarks against the BNP. The police have taken her into custody and legal proceedings are underway.” The police have stated that they are investigating the matter and that appropriate legal action will be taken against those involved. No further details have been released regarding charges or the status of Akter’s case.
