Main Points
Iran has markedly increased attacks on U.S. personnel in the Middle East and other regions, according to Jay Clayton, the director of national intelligence. Clayton warned that the end of the Iranian conflict remains far off. His assessment came at a time when the U.S. State Department has been issuing a series of warnings to staff at American embassies worldwide. The latest directive included the evacuation of U.S. personnel from Saudi Arabia, a move that followed a series of Yemeni attacks on Riyadh. Clayton emphasized that Iranian plots against American citizens have progressed to a lethal stage in the Middle East and in certain other countries. He also noted that U.S. officials are working to reclassify as much intelligence as possible so that Secretary of State Marco Rubio can share the information with cabinet and Treasury staff, according to a recent BBC article.
