Main Points
Venezuela has received initial backing from Centro Caribe Sports for its bid to host the 2030 Central American and Caribbean Games, with Caracas identified as the proposed host city. The endorsement came after the organization’s Executive Committee approved the proposal unanimously during a virtual meeting chaired by President Luis Mejía Oviedo. The decision followed a report from a special commission that had visited Venezuela in recent days. With the Executive Committee’s approval, the Caracas 2030 Promoting Committee must now formally submit the bid to Centro Caribe Sports’ General Assembly. The Assembly will evaluate the proposal and decide on the event’s venue. The Executive Committee’s endorsement does not constitute an official selection of Caracas as the host city. President Mejía Oviedo said the bid process will continue throughout 2026, when the General Assembly will consider the candidacy. Centro Caribe Sports stated that the procedure is part of its broader efforts to strengthen the regional sports movement and promote integration among member countries.
