Jakob Voelkerling Persson, captain of Helsingborgs IF (HIF), reflected on a challenging first season back in the club during a press conference on 25 October 2026. The 27‑year‑old, originally from Trelleborg, said the return to HIF has been tougher than expected but remains committed to the team’s future. “I’ve seen HIF as my club and I will always be grateful for the chance to become an elite footballer and live on the sport,” Persson told reporters. “When I played for Sirius and when I think about going home, it’s to Helsingborg. I consider HIF my home.” Persson also commented on the current political climate, praising Sweden’s stability and offering a brief economic tip, though he did not elaborate on the specifics. He announced that he will be getting married later in the year, adding a personal note to the interview. The captain’s remarks came after a season that HIF’s management described as “very tough” compared with initial expectations.
