KG Says Orlando Octave Betrayed Him Despite Not Being Targeted

KG Decries Betrayal by Orlando Octave, Insists He Never Attacked Singer

He defended Orlando Octave when others called him a sellout. He insists he never mentioned the singer’s name when criticising other influencers. So why did someone he considered a friend end up publicly confronting him?

That is the question at the centre of an emotional broadcast by popular Trinidad and Tobago content creator KG, who has expressed deep disappointment over what he describes as a betrayal by longtime associate and singer Orlando Octave.

Speaking on his Talks With KG platform, KG explained that the controversy began when he criticised a couple of influencers, describing them as “lick bottom.”

However, he maintained that Octave was never among those he named or directly targeted.

According to KG, it was members of the viewing audience who introduced the singer into the discussion by repeatedly asking, “What about Orlando?”

Those comments reportedly prompted Octave to respond publicly, turning what KG says was never an attack on the singer into a personal confrontation.

KG Says He Was Defending Octave, Not Attacking Him

KG expressed frustration that Octave apparently interpreted the situation as criticism directed towards him, despite their longstanding relationship.

He recalled previously standing up for Octave when others accused the singer of being a sellout, sometimes placing his own reputation on the line to defend him.

For KG, that history made Octave’s public response particularly painful.

He questioned why someone he had supported would choose to confront him before a public audience rather than simply contacting him privately to clarify the situation.

KG described the experience as feeling like an attempt to “nail him to the cross,” suggesting that the confrontation had damaged his trust in people he once considered friends.

The Bigger Issue of Loyalty and Public Influence

The broadcast also revealed KG’s growing frustration with what he considers hypocrisy among influential entertainers and public personalities.

He questioned individuals who present themselves as culturally conscious and committed to uplifting the people but, in his opinion, remain silent on unemployment, economic hardship and other national concerns.

KG also raised questions about political connections and appointments, suggesting that some entertainers become less outspoken after gaining positions of influence.

These criticisms represent KG’s personal views and do not establish wrongdoing by Octave.

KG Defends His Own Reputation

KG also rejected allegations that his commentary promotes racism or division, insisting that his platform is intended to expose injustice, question authority and discuss issues affecting ordinary citizens.

He argued that critics frequently take his comments out of context, creating controversy around statements that he believes have been misunderstood.

The fallout has apparently left him so disillusioned that he also announced plans to step away from the local music industry, although he intends to continue his public commentary.

But beyond that announcement, the central issue for KG remains the perceived betrayal.

He insists Orlando Octave was never his target, that he had previously defended the singer, and that a private conversation could have prevented the disagreement from escalating.

While Octave’s full perspective on KG’s latest account has not been established, the incident raises a question about how easily longstanding relationships can deteriorate when public comments are interpreted as personal attacks.

For KG, the most painful part appears to be that the person he once defended became the person he now feels betrayed him.
