Singer and actress Selena Gomez has issued a personal warning about nicotine vaping, revealing that she believes the habit has permanently changed her voice. The 34-year-old star shared the admission in an Instagram Stories video on Sunday, 18 October 2026, explaining that she had vaped nicotine heavily and struggled with how difficult the habit was to quit. "I'm not going to be able to change my voice," Gomez said, acknowledging that years of vaping had affected the way she sounds. The revelation also addressed questions surrounding changes in her speaking voice, which have attracted attention from fans over the years. Gomez warned people who are already vaping, as well as those considering trying it, that nicotine dependence can be extremely difficult to overcome. "Nicotine is so hard to quit," she said, describing the habit as "just not worth it." Despite her regrets, Gomez revealed that she has stopped vaping and hopes to remain nicotine-free. She also encouraged others struggling with the habit, reminding them that overcoming difficult experiences is possible. While Gomez believes the change to her voice is permanent, she did not provide a medical assessment establishing irreversible damage or confirming vaping as the sole cause. Her message has turned a personal confession into a public warning, particularly for younger fans who may underestimate how difficult nicotine addiction can be to escape.
