A Standard Three pupil named Joleigh is receiving some well-deserved recognition after the San Fernando Public Library highlighted her enthusiasm for reading and her regular visits to the facility. In a Facebook post shared on October 5, the library introduced the young reader, explaining that she has been visiting consistently since the facility opened. According to the library, Joleigh regularly finds herself a comfortable corner, settles down with a book and enjoys spending time reading. The library accompanied its post with a photograph of Joleigh seated comfortably on a couch, dressed in her school uniform with an open book resting on her lap. In a particularly touching description, the library wrote, "Her feet may not reach the floor, but she looks quite prepared to stay until they do." The moment highlights the importance of encouraging children to develop an interest in books from an early age. Joleigh's enthusiasm also serves as a reminder of the valuable role public libraries continue to play in providing young people with welcoming spaces to read, learn and explore. For this young reader, a comfortable seat and a good book appear to be all she needs.
