PAICV aponta avanços na educação saúde nos primeiros 100 dias de Governo

Carlos Rodrigues, a deputy of the PAICV parliamentary group, presented a review of the government’s actions during the three‑day parliamentary sessions that preceded the first plenary meeting of October. He said the measures adopted by the government align with the commitments made during the electoral campaign. In education, Rodrigues highlighted the government’s commitment to free higher education and vocational training. He noted that the government has already allocated funds in the rectifying budget to implement the measure at the start of the current academic year and that resources are planned for the 2027 state budget. Regarding health, the deputy emphasized the provision of free medical care and the allocation of subsidies to health facilities to ensure their continued operation. In the agricultural sector, Rodrigues referred to preparations for the challenges of the current farming season. He mentioned ongoing water mobilization efforts through desalination and the rehabilitation of existing wells. Specific interventions were cited in São Miguel and Praia, including cleaning and restoring several wells. He also noted subsidies for animal feed and the need for further measures to address damage caused by green monkeys and wild chickens in Santiago Norte, particularly in São Miguel. When asked about the sustainability of the announced measures, Rodrigues pointed to the prioritization of resources in the state budget and the reduction of public expenditure as strategies to maintain policies in education and health. He explained that the government is restructuring services and cutting what it considers excess structures to reduce the overall budget. Concluding, Rodrigues said the debate clarifies for the Cape Verdean society the projects and measures the government has undertaken over the past 100 days for the benefit of the population.
