Dr Isdine Laourou, a pharmacist trained at the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, joined the UbiPharm group in May 2009 as an assistant pharmacist.
He advanced within the network, first leading an agency in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, and later serving as director general of UbiPharm Benin from 2019.
After fourteen years with the group, Dr Laourou was appointed director general of UbiPharm Togo on 1 July 2023, succeeding Dr Franck Stéphane Amani, who moved to head the Burkina Faso subsidiary.
UbiPharm Togo, headquartered in the port area of Lomé, operates as a wholesale‑distributor of pharmaceutical products and is the Togolese branch of the pan‑African UbiPharm group, which operates in fifteen African countries and four overseas departments and regions (DROM). The group follows a cooperative model and is wholly owned by approximately 3,900 pharmacist client‑shareholders.
Under Dr Laourou’s leadership, UbiPharm Togo became an official partner of the 23rd International Pharmaceutical Forum held in Lomé in July 2024, a forum patronised by then‑Prime Minister Victoire Tomégah‑Dogbé.
In January 2024, the Togolese subsidiary received a merit certificate from the World Customs Organization (WCO) in recognition of its contribution to the international customs community.
