The Trinidad and Tobago artiste, whose real name is Kern Joseph, added some humour to the big night by appearing to Photoshop himself into a Caribbean Music Awards photograph alongside Plumpy Boss, Kman 6ixx and Medz Boss.

That separation from Trinidad also became part of the inspiration behind his song “Eskimo,” with Killa speaking about the loneliness and emotions associated with being away from home.
His situation has also affected his ability to participate physically in events in Trinidad and Tobago.
During Carnival 2025, Killa qualified for the semifinals of the Ultimate Soca Champion competition but was unable to appear in person. He proposed participating virtually, but organisers required competitors to be physically present, resulting in Killa withdrawing from the competition.
