Shadow MP for San Fernando East John Michael Alibocus and Councillor Shawn Premchand have joined forces to provide a wheelchair to Mr Gopaul, a resident of 1st Street West, Corinth Settlement, Ste Madeleine.
The visit, shared on Facebook by Alibocus, also known as Makamillion, showed the two community representatives meeting with Mr Gopaul and delivering the wheelchair to assist with his mobility needs.
During the visit, Alibocus explained that the wheelchair provided was temporary and that they intended to return with one better suited to Mr Gopaul.
“We will be coming back here on Tuesday with the proper wheelchair,” Alibocus said.
Premchand, Councillor for the Corinth/Cedar Hill district, accompanied Alibocus during the delivery.
The initiative was presented as part of their ongoing community outreach, with the accompanying Facebook post emphasising the importance of “showing up, listening to our people, identifying their needs, and working together to provide meaningful assistance.”
The post described the initiative under the message “Service with Compassion”, highlighting the representatives’ stated commitment to assisting residents within the community.
Mr Gopaul expressed his appreciation for the assistance as the representatives pledged to return with the replacement wheelchair.
