Psykologiprofessorn: ”Alla människor får smutsiga tankar”

Professor of psychology Erik Andersson states that experiencing intrusive or forbidden thoughts is a universal human experience. According to Andersson, it is common for individuals to occasionally have distressing thoughts, such as the impulse to harm a partner or a child.

Andersson notes that the average person experiences approximately 65,000 thoughts per day. While many of these are routine or repetitive, others can be unpleasant or socially taboo.

The professor emphasizes that these thoughts do not define an individual’s character. He warns that the primary risk arises when people begin to equate their identity with these intrusive thoughts, rather than recognizing them as a natural, albeit uncomfortable, part of human cognition.
