“Nettoyage ethnique” : le Royaume-Uni, la France et dix pays vont sanctionner la colonisation israélienne

Twelve nations, including France and the United Kingdom, announced on Tuesday, September 8, the implementation of trade restrictions targeting Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The coalition, which also includes Canada, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, and Sweden, issued a joint statement confirming their intention to restrict the trade of goods originating from these settlements.

In the United Kingdom, Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband addressed the House of Commons to condemn the actions of certain Israeli settlers, characterizing them as terrorists. Miliband alleged that these individuals are carrying out what he described as ethnic cleansing with the complicity of the Israeli government. The Foreign Secretary further stated that the British government now officially considers the entirety of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank to be illegal.

According to reports from The Guardian, the British government’s stance represents its strongest condemnation of the settlements to date. The announcement of broad trade sanctions by the United Kingdom, France, and Canada marks a significant shift in international policy regarding the region. Some of the participating nations had previously enacted similar measures independently.

The Israeli government and the United States have indicated that they intend to respond to these developments, though specific details regarding their planned actions have not been disclosed.
