Bridgetown, Barbados – On Monday, September 7, 2026, the Saint Lucia Kings were defeated by the Barbados Tridents in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match at Kensington Oval.
The Kings posted a total of 138 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Kamil Pooran was the top scorer with 37 runs off 24 balls, while captain Roston Chase contributed 34 runs off 28 balls. John Campbell added 24 runs to the score.
In the bowling department, Mujeeb Ur Rahman delivered a decisive spell for the Tridents, taking three wickets for 22 runs. He began his spell by conceding only seven runs in his first two overs and then removed Charith Asalanka and Matthew Forde in a single over. Australian all‑rounder Daniel Sams also took two wickets for 20 runs.
The Tridents chased the target comfortably, reaching 139 runs for the loss of two wickets in 17.5 overs. Quinton de Kock scored 47 runs off 31 balls, and Rivaldo Clarke remained unbeaten on 36 runs off 34 balls.
Following the loss, the Kings will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 10 at Providence Stadium in Georgetown.
Saint Lucia Kings captain Roston Chase said, “In Guyana, you probably get a lot of spin. The wicket’s probably going to keep a bit lower, so I think we have to make plans around that.” He added, “Yeah, it’s franchise cricket, so I’m not really Barbadian at this point. I’m St Lucian at this point, so it is what it is.”
The defeat leaves the Kings needing a strong performance in their final league match to maintain their position in the CPL standings and secure a playoff spot.
