**BURNSIDE, Suriname** – A 45-year-old Guyanese national, identified as F.G.J., was arrested by Surinamese police on Sunday following the discovery of 53 bottles of cough syrup in his luggage.
The arrest occurred at the Burnside police checkpoint during a routine inspection of a passenger bus. According to authorities, the suspect was detained after officers discovered the contraband while reviewing his travel documents.
The man is currently facing charges for alleged violations of both the Foreign Nationals Act and the Smuggling Act. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
