**Eurostat: One in Six Adults in the European Union Classified as Obese in 2025**
Data released by Eurostat indicates that 16.3% of adults aged 18 and older in the European Union were classified as obese in 2025. The report further highlights that more than half of the total population within the bloc was categorized as overweight.
According to the European Union’s statistical office, Portugal recorded an obesity rate of 17% among its adult population during the same period. The data is based on the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is used to categorize weight status.
