**USS Abraham Lincoln Docks in Thailand Following 286-Day Deployment**
**LAEM CHABANG, Thailand** — The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln arrived at the port of Laem Chabang, Thailand, on September 2, 2026, marking the end of 286 consecutive days at sea.
The vessel, which carries approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines, docked for a scheduled five-day visit intended to provide personnel with time for rest, recovery, and logistical support. The guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. also arrived in the region, docking at Sri Racha, approximately 10 kilometers from Laem Chabang.
The deployment began in November 2025 when the carrier departed San Diego for the South China Sea. It was subsequently redirected to the Middle East, where it spent nearly seven months supporting U.S. military operations during the conflict with Iran. Democratic lawmakers have noted that the duration of this deployment set a record for the number of consecutive days a U.S. Navy carrier has remained at sea.
Rear Admiral Robert E. Loughran, commander of Carrier Strike Group 3, described the arrival as a “well-deserved opportunity for our Sailors and Marines to rest and recharge.” He further characterized the group’s achievements during the deployment as historic.
Thai authorities emphasized that the port visit is consistent with the long-standing military relationship between the United States and Thailand—a U.S. treaty ally since 1954 and a designated non-NATO ally since 2003. Officials stated that the visit is strictly for logistical and rest purposes and is not related to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The arrival of the U.S. personnel is expected to impact the local economy in the nearby resort city of Pattaya. Mayor Poramase Ngampiches stated that approximately 40 buses have been arranged to transport service members between the port and the city.
Local authorities have implemented specific restrictions for the visiting personnel, prohibiting participation in activities such as water sports, jet skiing, bungee jumping, wrestling, and boxing. Additionally, police have increased patrols in Pattaya’s beachfront and nightlife districts following recent enforcement actions against suspected prostitution in the area.
Local vendors expressed optimism regarding the economic impact of the visit. Kadsalin Ketpa, a clothing seller, noted that business had been quiet and that she had prepared inventory specifically for the arrival of the U.S. personnel.
