**KOTLAGUDA, ODISHA** — Narayan Jena, a resident of Odisha, has achieved a career as a headmaster despite facing significant physical challenges stemming from a medical incident in his youth.
When Jena was in the third grade, he suffered a reaction to an injection that resulted in paralysis, leaving him unable to walk. Despite the loss of mobility, Jena continued his pursuit of education. During his formative years, he frequently crawled to school to attend classes, often receiving assistance from his brother, who would carry him for several kilometers to ensure he could reach his destination.
Jena’s commitment to his studies eventually led him to a career in education. He currently serves as the headmaster of Kotlaguda Primary School in rural Odisha. In his role, he now oversees the education of local students, drawing on his personal experiences to provide opportunities for children in his community.
