The measure, which was passed in a vote held in the capital, applies nationwide but makes an exception for casinos that are located within hotels and other tourist facilities.
Under the bill, no new gambling venues will be permitted to open for the next decade, a move that lawmakers say will help curb the rapid expansion of the industry and protect consumers.
