Three Men Remanded in Guyana for Alleged Attempted Armed Robbery and Firearm Possession

Three men have been remanded to prison following their appearance in a Guyana court over an alleged attempted armed robbery. Yohance Carroll, 22, Earl Grant, 23, and Adrian Greenidge, 23, are facing charges related to the incident, which purportedly took place in Georgetown.

Carroll and Grant, both residents of the Tucville Squatting Area, along with Greenidge, a security guard from Cane View Squatting Area, are accused of attempting to commit robbery under arms. The charges were brought under Section 36 of Guyana’s Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.

In addition to the robbery charges, Grant and Greenidge are facing separate accusations of possessing firearms and ammunition without a license, in violation of Section 16(2)(a) of Guyana’s Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.

The trio appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court #2 on Monday, August 31, 2026. During this session, the charges were read, but the accused were not required to enter pleas. Consequently, all three were remanded to prison pending further proceedings.

The case has been adjourned to October 9, 2026, when the accused are expected to return to court. It is important to note that these charges are still allegations and have not yet resulted in any convictions.
