The Minister of Health, Mouna Osman Aden, met on Thursday with Amina Abdoulkader Mohamed, the newly appointed head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) office in Djibouti, to mark the start of the UN agency’s new leadership term.

During the introductory meeting, the two officials reviewed the existing framework for cooperation between Djibouti’s Ministry of Health and UNFPA, a long‑standing partner of the Djiboutian government. Discussions focused on several priority areas, including maternal and reproductive health, family planning, and health services for adolescents and young people. Both sides also considered strategies to improve access to quality health care for women, girls, and broader communities.

Minister Osman Aden expressed appreciation for UNFPA’s continued support and reaffirmed the government’s intention to strengthen the partnership with the aim of enhancing the health and well‑being of the population over the long term.

In response, UNFPA Representative Mohamed pledged that the organization remains ready to assist the ministry in implementing national health priorities and to continue the initiatives already underway.
