Randall Karim Elevated to Lead Trinidad and Tobago’s Foreign Services

Randall Karim has been appointed as the Permanent Secretary and Head of Trinidad and Tobago’s Foreign Service, a significant step announced by the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. The Ministry celebrated his promotion on Tuesday, August 25, labeling it a ‘meritorious appointment.’

Karim’s new role places him at the administrative helm of the Ministry, where he will oversee its operations and support the implementation of the Government’s foreign-policy priorities. As Head of the Foreign Service, he will manage the country’s network of embassies, high commissions, consulates, and other overseas missions.

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs is tasked with managing Trinidad and Tobago’s relationships with foreign governments and international organizations. Under Karim’s leadership, the Ministry aims to advance the country’s diplomatic, economic, and regional interests, including engagement within CARICOM.

Karim’s promotion comes as Trinidad and Tobago navigates a complex international landscape, where diplomacy is critical in areas such as trade, investment, regional cooperation, and security. An official photograph of Karim, holding his appointment documentation beneath Trinidad and Tobago’s Coat of Arms, marked the occasion.

On behalf of the Minister and staff, a congratulatory message was issued celebrating Karim’s elevation to one of the most senior public-service positions within the Ministry. This new chapter is expected to bolster Trinidad and Tobago’s presence and efficacy on the global stage.
