Guyana has produced its largest nursing cohort in history, with 669 students graduating from the country’s Professional Nursing Hybrid Programme. The three-year programme, which is offered through the Ministry of Health, was launched in 2023 with the aim of expanding access to nursing education and addressing the growing demand for qualified healthcare workers. The programme is funded by a Government scholarship, and its latest cohort marks a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to boost its healthcare workforce. According to reports, a total of 669 students have completed the programme, making it the largest cohort of professional nurses to be produced in Guyana’s history.
