A 49-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay suffered grievous injuries after being struck by a car in Bormla on Sunday morning. According to the police, the driver of the vehicle, a Peugeot, allegedly fled the scene after the incident.
The police were informed of the incident at around 11:30am and responded to a call for assistance in Triq Hanover, Bormla. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that the victim had been hit by the car and the driver had allegedly fled.
The victim received medical attention at the scene before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified as having suffered grievous injuries.
Following intensive investigations, the police located the vehicle involved in the incident a short while later in Triq San Ġorġ, Bormla. The alleged driver, a 37-year-old man from Bormla, was subsequently arrested.
The police are currently conducting ongoing investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. The victim’s condition is not currently available, but he has been confirmed to have suffered grievous injuries.
