Finland Loses Out in the Labor Market Due to Long Working Hours

Finns are among the hardest working people in the Nordic region, but this comes at a cost to both the economy and workers’ health. In contrast, Denmark has a more flexible labor market and shorter working weeks.

According to reports, Finns work longer hours compared to their Danish counterparts. Vilde Paulsen, a 28-year-old from Denmark, stated, “I work just the right amount.” This highlights the difference in approach to work-life balance between the two countries.

While Finns are putting in more hours, the pressure is taking a toll on both the economy and workers’ well-being. Denmark’s more flexible labor market and shorter working weeks may be a contributing factor to a better work-life balance for its citizens.
