A$AP Rocky Ends Potential Collaboration After Designer Shares Private Messages
A potential branding collaboration between rapper and creative director A$AP Rocky and prominent logo designer Allan Peters came to an abrupt end after Peters publicly shared a private Instagram conversation between the two.
According to screenshots that quickly circulated online, Rocky reached out to Peters via Instagram Direct Message to inquire about hiring him for brand logo revisions. In the message, Rocky complimented the designer’s work and asked about his availability and rates, indicating genuine interest in working together.
Rather than keeping the exchange private, Peters posted a screenshot of the conversation on Instagram, expressing excitement over the opportunity. The post quickly gained attention across social media, but many users questioned whether it was appropriate to publicly share a prospective client’s private message before any agreement had been reached.
Rocky soon responded directly in the comments, making it clear that the post had cost Peters the opportunity.
“THIS IS JUST DISTASTEFUL. WELL I GUESS WE WON’T BE WORKING. BEST OF LUCK BUDDY.”
The comment quickly went viral, with many praising Rocky’s stance on professionalism and confidentiality in business relationships. Others argued that Peters may simply have been excited by the high-profile inquiry and did not intend any harm.
Shortly after the backlash, Peters deleted the original Instagram post. As of now, neither he nor Rocky has indicated that the collaboration will move forward.
The incident has since sparked broader discussions within the creative industry about client trust, discretion and the importance of keeping private business communications confidential until both parties agree otherwise. Many designers and marketing professionals have pointed to the situation as a reminder that protecting client privacy is often just as important as producing quality work.
