Twelve Carrera Convict Prison Inmates Baptised in Hopeful Gulf of Paria Ceremony

In a heartfelt ceremony on Thursday, July 30, twelve inmates from the Carrera Convict Prison embraced a new chapter in their lives by participating in a baptismal service in the Gulf of Paria. This event is part of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service’s faith-based rehabilitation program, which focuses on promoting personal growth and spiritual renewal among inmates.

The baptism was conducted by Pastor Wilma Kelly and members of the Way of Holiness Ministries. The group traveled to the island prison to lead the service, which involved immersing the inmates in the waters of the Gulf. This act symbolized the cleansing of past sins and the commitment to living a life guided by Christian principles.

Prison officials recognized the baptism as a significant step in the inmates’ rehabilitation journey. They emphasized the importance of spiritual development in preparing inmates for a successful reintegration into society. Superintendent of Prisons Sheldon Nyron expressed his gratitude to Pastor Kelly and her team for their dedication to supporting the inmates through faith and mentorship.

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service views initiatives like this baptism as crucial components of their broader rehabilitation strategy. By encouraging hope, accountability, and positive values, these programs aim to equip inmates with the tools they need to transition positively upon their release.
