Russia to Ban Armenian Dairy Imports Over ‘Serious Violations’ – Rosselkhoznadzor

Russia will suspend imports of dairy products from Armenia beginning July 27, following inspections that Moscow says uncovered serious violations at Armenian processing facilities. Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, conducted inspections at Armenian dairy enterprises from July 14 to 21 and identified deficiencies in product quality and safety standards.

The ban targets a key sector of Armenia’s economy, as Russia remains the largest export market for Armenian dairy goods. Local producers now face uncertainty over lost revenue and potential oversupply in the domestic market.

Armenian officials have not yet issued an official response, but the move is expected to escalate trade tensions between the two countries. Industry experts warn that the suspension could have ripple effects on farmers and food processors across Armenia.

The development comes amid broader shifts in Armenia-Russia trade relations, with both sides navigating political and economic pressures.
