The conference highlighted the urgency of tackling HDV, a severe form of hepatitis that often leads to faster progression to cirrhosis and liver cancer. Pakistan has one of the highest burdens of hepatitis in the world, and the introduction of this therapy could save thousands of lives.
Officials from both countries emphasized the importance of collaboration in bringing affordable treatments to regions most in need. The move is part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare ties between Pakistan and China.
