Sahel nations Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger join forces to bid for 2032 Africa Cup of Nations

In a move that highlights regional unity, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have officially submitted a joint bid to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has accepted the bid, which was presented by the three Sahel nations under the banner of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

The joint candidacy was announced following a meeting with CAF President Patrice Motsepe, who praised the cooperative effort. The three countries, facing shared security and economic challenges, see the tournament as an opportunity to boost infrastructure and international profile.

While the bid is still in its early stages, it marks a historic collaboration in African football. The 2032 AFCON will be the 37th edition of the tournament, and if successful, it would be the first time the event is hosted by multiple Sahelian countries.
