Chilean Flutist and Pianist Debut ‘Barrio Curicó’ Suite in El Salvador

Two Chilean musicians, flutist and composer Diego Cortés Morales and pianist Manuel Valenzuela Lacaros, brought a piece of their homeland to El Salvador with the debut of the suite ‘Barrio Curicó’. The concert, featuring piano and flute, was a heartfelt tribute to the city of Curicó in central Chile, where both artists now live. ‘Curicó is very different from San Salvador. It has a Mediterranean climate and is known for wine production, with a strong rural tradition. I wanted to give back to the city by describing my experiences in each neighborhood through music,’ said Cortés. The suite comprises six melodies: Aguas Negras, Tormenta en El Boldo, Kelly & Krishna, Las Candelarias, Cerro Cadell 3:45, and Estadio de la Granja. The performance delighted the audience and highlighted the cultural ties between Chile and El Salvador.
