Mr Kwame Owusu Danso, a lawyer and Executive Director of Lands and Mines Watch Ghana, has urged the government to conduct broad national consultation before advancing the proposed Tribunals Bill.
Speaking on Joy News on Monday July 20, 2026, Mr Owusu Danso said many Ghanaians still carry painful memories of how tribunals were used in the past, and that rushing the bill without proper dialogue could reopen old wounds.
He emphasised that the bill must be subjected to thorough public debate and scrutiny to ensure it addresses the concerns of all stakeholders and avoids repeating past mistakes.
The call comes as the bill is being considered by parliament, with civil society organisations expected to weigh in on the proposed legislation.
