At least three police officers were killed and 20 wounded in twin militant attacks in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday, officials said. The first attack occurred in the Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where militants ambushed a security convoy, killing three officers and wounding 15 others, according to local police official Ibrahim Khan. Hours later, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a police station in the city of Bannu, also in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, wounding at least five police officers. The blast damaged part of the station, but no fatalities were immediately reported. The attacks highlight the persistent security challenges in the region, where militant groups continue to target security forces.
