A 41-year-old man from South Oropouche has been taken into custody in relation to the murder of Neisha Roberts, a 39-year-old woman from Mt St George, Tobago. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, following the discovery of Roberts’ lifeless body near the bathroom area of her home. The police responded to an early morning report and found the victim in a pool of blood. District Medical Officer Dr Ferguson pronounced Roberts dead at the scene at 9:45 a.m.
Crime Scene Investigators arrived at the location to process the scene and collect evidence. The body was subsequently transported to the Scarborough General Hospital mortuary, where a forensic post-mortem is to be conducted.
The suspected perpetrator was apprehended at around 2:15 p.m. by officers from the Homicide Bureau in Port of Spain. The man was intercepted while disembarking the Galleons Passage, a vessel which had sailed from Tobago to Trinidad.
The TTPS stated that investigations into the murder case are ongoing.
