To support this vision, he announced the establishment of a National Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the University of Technology (UTech). This facility is intended to serve as a model for technical training centers across the country. Holness highlighted the importance of upskilling the workforce to remain competitive in a global economy increasingly influenced by automation and AI.
The Prime Minister advocated for early exposure to AI within the primary education system to prepare Jamaican youth for future challenges in the digital landscape. He believes that this initiative will help cultivate a generation of digital natives capable of navigating the complexities of the global economy.
