A confidential intelligence report has revealed details of a death threat against James Singh, the Director of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU). This threat is linked to a transnational drug trafficking syndicate operating in a smuggling corridor that includes Venezuela, Guyana, and Suriname.
According to reliable intelligence sources, an underworld figure known as “Boykie” has threatened to “take out” the CANU Director. This threat follows a series of successful interdiction operations by CANU that dismantled key distribution cells associated with the syndicate.
The intelligence report indicates that the syndicate leader was angered by recent high-profile raids conducted by CANU tactical teams, which resulted in the seizure of cocaine consignments marked with distinctive tracking seals. These markings are believed to indicate the quality and origin of the drugs intended for export to West Africa and Europe.
The report also highlights an ongoing “Spanish threat” against the CANU executive. Intelligence intercepts confirm that the suspect is actively seeking to carry out the assassination, with plans to recruit local criminals and Spanish-speaking mercenaries from Venezuela.
The assassination order is reportedly a direct consequence of two significant enforcement operations carried out by CANU in July 2025:
- The Turkeyen Intercept (July 9, 2025): Undercover operators intercepted two vehicles, recovering 16 kilograms of cocaine and leading to multiple arrests.
- The Beterverwagting Raid (July 22, 2025): A tactical team seized 7.8 kilograms of cocaine from a distribution safehouse, resulting in another arrest.
These operations collectively removed over 24 kilograms of cocaine from the market, representing a financial blow to the cartel. Following the emergence of threats on social media, the Ministry of Home Affairs reiterated its commitment to combating intimidation against national security officials.
Despite these assurances, concerns have been raised regarding the protective measures in place for the CANU Director. Some defense sources have questioned the disparity in security resources allocated to political figures compared to those protecting frontline officers like Singh. Enhanced counter-surveillance protocols have reportedly been implemented at the CANU command center as international partners monitor the situation.
