He specifically pointed out the struggles of retirees and working-class families who are facing diminished purchasing power. He remarked, “How far have we truly come when pensioners who built this nation are forced to endure indignity while corruption flourishes openly before their eyes?”
Another key aspect of Mohamed’s address was the impact of unchecked state spending on the younger generation. He expressed concern that there is a growing perception among young people that success is linked to political connections rather than merit. He stated, “How far have we truly come when young people increasingly believe success depends not upon merit or hard work, but upon political proximity and connections?”
In conclusion, Mohamed called for strengthening anti-corruption bodies and ensuring that state oversight operates independently of executive influence. He argued that structural corruption must be actively addressed rather than accepted as a consequence of rapid development. His address sets the stage for the political opposition to advocate for greater fiscal transparency as the parliament prepares to review upcoming multi-billion-dollar budget allocations.
