The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has issued an official public notice, warning the public about a scam involving fake speeding violation text messages. Fake SMS messages have been circulating, claiming that recipients owe money for speeding violations. These messages pressure the recipients to pay within seven days to avail a supposed ‘50% discount’. However, the Ministry has clarified that these messages are not legitimate and did not originate from them. The public is advised not to click any links included in these messages or send any personal or financial information. The scam is essentially a phishing scheme with the aim to steal payment information, collect personal data, and trick people into paying fake fines.
