Man Found Hacked to Death in Arouca

A man was brutally killed in Arouca on Monday afternoon, pushing Trinidad and Tobago’s murder toll to 124 for the year.

Police identified the victim as Israel Ramsahai, whose body was discovered behind a residence along Fifth Street, Bon Air Gardens, Arouca, shortly after 2.30 p.m.

According to investigators, officers responding to reports at the scene found Ramsahai with multiple chop wounds about his body.

Personnel from the Region Two Homicide Bureau, the Arouca Criminal Investigations Department and the Crime Scene Unit processed the area for several hours as investigations continued into the killing.

Police said no motive has yet been established and no suspects have been identified at this time.

Ramsahai’s body was ordered removed to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

The latest homicide brings the country’s murder toll to 124 so far for 2026. During the corresponding period last year, the figure stood at 134.
