Two men tragically lost their lives early Saturday morning in a high-speed crash in Point-a-Pierre, along the Southern Main Road near Flower Pot Beach. The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. when a silver Nissan Almera collided with a wall, close to the Bethel New Testament Church and not far from the St Margaret’s Police Station.
One of the deceased has been identified as Mark, while the other victim was a resident of Marabella. A third man was injured in the crash and subsequently taken for medical attention. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling north and seemed to veer off the road towards a Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) pipe repair project.
Residents described hearing the impact and rushing to the scene, where they found a survivor trapped inside the wreckage. Firefighters arrived shortly after and used the ‘jaws of life’ to extricate the occupants from the mangled car. The area where the crash occurred is known for ongoing construction works, which may have contributed to the accident.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, as the community mourns the loss of two lives in this devastating accident.
