A day of leisure turned tragic on Wednesday when a speeding jet ski struck a group of seabathers at Pigeon Point, Tobago, fatally injuring a young girl. The victim has been identified as Angelica Saydee Jogie, who was on an Easter vacation with her family from Barrackpore.
The jet ski, reportedly moving at high speed, collided with Saydee, causing her to sustain severe injuries. The operator of the vehicle did not stay at the scene, leaving the injured child and fleeing. The Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Farley Augustine has publicly appealed to the operator to surrender to the local authorities.
Following the accident, Saydee was rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, she later succumbed to her injuries.
Saydee, a student of San Fernando TML Primary School, was due to celebrate her 8th birthday on April 23rd. A joyous occasion has now been marked with sorrow as the family and community mourn her untimely loss.
