Coast Guard Intercepts Illegal Vessel Carrying 13 Venezuelans, Including Infants, Off South Trinidad Coast

In a move to fortify national security, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard has intercepted an unregistered vessel off the south coast of Trinidad. The vessel was found to be carrying multiple Venezuelan nationals, according to an official media release dated April 3, 2026. The interception was made during the course of routine maritime patrols.

Among the thirteen Venezuelan nationals on board were two infants. All individuals, along with their belongings, were promptly handed over to the relevant agencies for further processing.

This interception underscores the ongoing efforts of the Coast Guard to maintain active patrols. The objective is to protect the country’s maritime borders and deter any form of illegal activity at sea.

Officials have emphasised that such operations remain a critical part of national security efforts. This is particularly significant amid growing concerns about illegal entry and potential human trafficking routes in the region’s waters.
