Government has warned of a crackdown on private contractors illegally extracting water from WASA facilities and reselling it to communities.
Officials revealed that some contractors have been stealing water from state infrastructure and selling it back to residents, describing the practice as a serious offence.
Plans are now in place to increase fines and penalties through upcoming legislation. Authorities also confirmed that enhanced monitoring systems, including security upgrades and tracking technology, will be implemented at WASA facilities.
The move is part of broader efforts to ensure accountability and protect public resources as the country faces ongoing water supply challenges.
