A terrifying armed robbery unfolded on Monday night in Laventille, leaving two 25-year-olds shaken but unscathed. The incident took place around 9:30 PM at the San Juan Taxi Stand on Charlotte Street. The victims were a taxi driver, who was operating his black Nissan Almera, and a passenger, both were forced out of the vehicle by the suspects.
The routine taxi ride quickly turned into a crime scene when, upon reaching the vicinity of Pigalles Hardware, the suspects brandished weapons and declared a robbery. The second 25-year-old passenger, a Laventille resident, was stripped of his valuables, including his blue iPhone 12 Pro, a brown wallet containing TT$300, and several important documents.
After the suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, the victims immediately alerted the authorities. This led to a swift response from the Besson Street Operations Unit, who performed a search of the surrounding areas.
The stolen Nissan Almera was subsequently found along Upper Wharton Street, Laventille. It has since been returned to police custody for further processing. Despite the recovery of the vehicle, the suspects remain at large. Detectives have confirmed that they continue to work diligently to identify the culprits involved in the heist.
