The international manhunt for former French police officer, Cedric Prizzon, ended following his arrest in Portugal this week. Prizzon was apprehended near the town of Meda, closing a multi-day pursuit that had spanned national borders. The arrest led to a disturbing discovery of two shallow graves believed to contain the bodies of Prizzon’s current partner and his ex-girlfriend.
Prizzon, traveling with his two young children at the time of his arrest, was found with a number of incriminating items in his vehicle. Among these were a pump-action shotgun, false identification documents, fraudulent license plates, and a substantial amount of cash – all pointing to a clear intent to evade law enforcement.
The former French officer had a troubled past, with a series of harassment convictions and recent loss of child custody rights. This history of domestic instability is now at the center of the investigation, as authorities work to establish a motive for the alleged double murder and child abduction.
Following intense questioning, Prizzon appeared before a magistrate and has been remanded into custody. He stands accused of Aggravated Murder, Kidnapping of Minors, and Desecration of a Corpse. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment.
The two children are now in the care of social services and are set to be repatriated to France soon. As the legal proceedings unfold, forensic teams are tirelessly working to formally identify the remains found at the site to provide closure to the victims’ families.
