Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados are fortifying their regional aviation cooperation. This follows talks between Trinidad & Tobago’s Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Senator Eli Zakour, and Barbados’ Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding-Edghill. The meeting was centered on enhancing air connectivity in the Caribbean. Among the topics discussed were ways to strengthen regional air travel, address high intra-regional flight costs, and expand training for Air Traffic Controllers. Barbados expressed interest in having its Air Traffic Controllers trained at the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Training Centre, a proposal welcomed by Minister Zakour. Other significant discussions concerned the recruitment of Air Traffic Controllers, the worldwide shortage of pilots, and encouraging youth to pursue careers in aviation.
