T&T Resilient to Global Energy Shocks, Minister Assures

Trinidad and Tobago is reportedly robust enough to weather global energy supply uncertainties, especially those spurred by the ongoing Middle East conflict, according to the country’s Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Dr. Roodal Moonilal. In an interview, Moonilal emphasized that T&T, as a net exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), is structurally more resistant than economies dependent on imports during global supply uncertainties. Rising global LNG prices, driven by Middle East tensions, could potentially boost T&T’s export revenues. Despite challenges in ramping up natural gas production, the nation’s unique position as a significant exporter affords it a relative strength in navigating the current global environment. These comments provide a degree of stability as international energy prices remain influenced by geopolitical events.
