The People’s National Movement (PNM) has announced preparations for internal elections within its Tobago arm, as part of a rebuilding process following significant electoral losses earlier this year. Elections for the PNM Tobago Council are set for April 19, with several positions up for grabs. Former Tobago West MP and government minister, Shamfa Cudjoe, intends to run for leadership of the Tobago Council, signaling a potential renewal of leadership. PNM chairman, Marvin Gonzales, confirmed the election date and welcomed Cudjoe’s candidacy as a highlight of women’s role in the party. The internal election is seen as crucial for the PNM’s strategy on the island, particularly in its efforts to regain political ground and strengthen its bonds with Tobagonians.
