Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel is facing a multi-million-dollar lawsuit filed by local promoter Jacho Entertainment Limited. The lawsuit alleges losses stemming from the cancellation of the One Caribbean Music Festival, initially set for May 31, 2025. The promoter accuses Kartel of breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and defamation, seeking over $7.3 million in damages and the recovery of $1.1 million already paid to the artist. The lawsuit claims Kartel failed to appear at the event in Trinidad and announced the festival’s cancellation without sufficient notice, despite receiving most of his performance fee. Jacho Entertainment also alleges that Kartel’s social media statements exacerbated financial losses and damaged its reputation. As of now, Kartel has not responded to the lawsuit.
