Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar insists that Trinidad and Tobago is not affected by the situation in Venezuela. She labels claims of a crisis in the country as ‘manufactured’ and affirms that life is proceeding as normal. In a recent social media post, she said what happens in Venezuela doesn’t impact Trinidad and Tobago, and citizens are going about their regular activities without being bothered. The Prime Minister also emphasized the nation’s commitment to maintaining positive relations with Venezuela and looks forward to strengthening the longstanding friendship. When questioned about the Dragon Gas project, Persad-Bissessar confirmed it belongs to the Venezuelan people and Trinidad and Tobago has no intention of coveting it. Regarding the US indictment of Nicolás Maduro and allegations against Caribbean politicians, she expressed no surprise, stating that many respectable and celebrated individuals across various sectors will be exposed as the situation unfolds.
